"Autumn, the year's last lovliest smile..."

Fall Picnic

A few years ago, I let the kids pick, or make up a family holiday. Cameron and Anna were too young at the time, so I should let them pick one now, but Koby picked "Animal Appreciation Day" which is our trip to the zoo and Billy picked "a Fall Picnic". I love it! So each year we have gone on a fall picnic! This year was a beautiful one......

We had chili dogs and pumpkin apple muffins for dessert. We painted a fall scene with nature as our inspiration.

Anna's

It was so beautiful, and then she added the gray swirly thing and I was so sad. I commented on how she should paint the blue back over it and fix it because it wasn't as pretty with the gray swirls. BAD MISTAKE! I really hurt her feelings. What was I thinking?? In the end it was okay and she wasn't mad at me anymore, but I should just let her paint whatever she wants... even if it's a beautiful fall picture and then she adds letters or flying ninja's to it...

Koby's

He did a night scene, trees blowing in the wind with a wolf on a rock. Love it!

Cameron's

The red and orange are the sunset and the pumpkins and leaves! On the right there's a deer, and a black cave with an animal in it. Adorable!

Billy's

Similar night scene, but he has deer on the rock and a coyote at the bottom. I love his different colors in the night sky.

Grammy and Aunt Mary Carol

Love their fall trees! They did such a good job. AND it was their first time!

It was such a lovely day! After our picnic we went on a different route home and saw some new beautiful places! What a beautiful world! And it's no secret that I love the fall. It rejuvenates me!

I don't know if it's the children coming in earlier as darkness settles, the hot soup and warm bread. Maybe its the snuggling and the fires, the colors of red, gold, orange, green. Or it might be the scarves and boots, hmmmmm the pumpkin cookies are pretty good too! Wait! Nope, Grammy's pumpking bread takes the cake there. Add in the switch to flannel sheets and the crunching leaves of family walks or better yet, the walks with just my husband. But 10 years ago we moved to Denver, though only for 4 years, I realized what I had been missing. Fall is my happy place. And it became a requirement for where we would sow our oats.

Billy raking leaves. I don't even ask, they rake and play in the piles. (:

Granted the piles are fairly small still.

Ahhhhh.... the love...

I don't want fall to be over, but it looks like we may have snow on Friday! I'm not ready for that yet!

Anna and her cute friend in the corn maze at the pumpkin patch.

Anna and her friend Anna. Pickin their pumpkins.

Have you ever done "popcorn on the cob"

Just microwave some Indian corn and spray on a little fake butter. (:

My kids thought I was AMAZING!

Look at his eyelashes!!!

So cute! My loves...
