Now, before anyone is bothered that they weren't invited this year, because they always have been in years past.. this was primarily a neighborhood party... though we have so many old people in our neighborhood that we really decided to encompass the neighborhoods surrounding ours as well.... We had loads of fun, and even had a band this year. Our good friend, Tom and his band, The Sheldons, played for us. It was a great time. I started this tradition years ago. Mostly due to memories of hanging out in a big tree in Gamlamor's backyard, eating her homeade ice cream with my cousins. It was always a treat! Now I make her homeade ice cream every year, and have added a few new ones as well. This year I did Grandma's vanilla, lemon sherbert from a TX friend, and a cinnamon ice cream that was soooo good!
We usually tell people to bring their favorite if they would like, and everyone goes hog wild. Hopefully, it will be a great memory for my kids as well.
